Nationwide Division One. 5 Dec 98 @ Alfred McAlpine

Huddersfield Town - 4 (Stewart 15. 20. 80. Facey 90.)
Crystal Palace - 0

Another away game, another team running well in the League. I guess the writing was on the wall. There is very little news on Palace from this match, but with four goals conceded and none scored it is always hard to find much that the scribes will write about the losing team.

The first quarter of an hour went by without incident, but shortly after it became the start of the Marcus Stewart show. David Phillips sent in a long ball and Stewart met it perfectly to send it past the diving Fraser Digby. Wayne Allison then missed a sitter, and Stewart sent a shot past the post, but the second goal was not long in coming. With Stewart advancing on goal Digby came out and the striker made no mistake lifting the ball into the top of the net. The rest of the half passed by without incident, though that was part of the problem - Palace did not have a single shot on goal!

We started the second half a little better with Nick Rizzo shooting over the bar and a Matt Jansen shot going straight to the keeper. At the other end Wayne Allison's shot went wide of the post and Delroy Facey's shot was well saved by Digby. With only eight minutes remaining on the clock Stewart netted his third with a close range header, bringing up his first ever hat-trick. In the dying moments the chances kept flying for Huddersfield and it was Facey who netted the fourth with time up showing on the clock.

For the two Terry's I guess it is "back to the drawing board."
