Nationwide Division One. 28 Dec 98 @ Selhurst Park
Crystal Palace - 1 (Morrison 10.)
The match got underway and it was only 10 minutes old when Clinton Morrison made the most of a fumble by Paul Whitehead and from only a few yards out converted the chance to give us the lead. West Brom, who have been having a good run just lately, then had no less than four chances to equalise, each effort being wasted. It proved very hard though to keep out Lee Hughes who had already scored 25 times this season! A rare mistake by Kevin Miller saw him trying to kick the ball clear when it should have been easier to simply pick the ball up. His mistimed kick went straight to Hughes who simply placed the ball into the back of the net. In fairness Miller then stopped a screamer from Hughes that really should have given the visitors the lead, it was certainly the save of the game. So a point gained, or two lost? I will let you make up your own mind. One thing is for sure though, we are going to need some points very soon if we are going to prove a side to be reckoned with come the end of the season.
